  • While on the subject of eating meat..

Any self professed carnivores MUST come visit Argentina (like I am currently doing). I have never seen a settled people eat so much damn meat. Its insane.

Take the average asado (which means roast):

Your group gathers, and starts nibbling on deli meats (hams, salamis, prociutto, so forth), cheese, and bread.

Then they bring the empanadas (meat patties).

Then you sit down, and they bring over sausage sandwiches.

THEN they bring over the organ meats, like sweatbreads, blood sausage, tripe, kidneys, so forth.

THEN they bring cuts of pork, and maybe chicken.

AND FINALLY you get to the beef. several cuts of course, and every argentine seems to know exactly which part of the cow each cut came from. Which is not surprising if you see the meat section of an argentine supermarket.

Its all actually a bit sickening.

but the ice cream is to die for.

    Forget the organ meat. :gag:

A true carnivore enjoys every part of the animal.

Sounds like many South American barbeque restaurants here and abroad. The last one I went to was with some people at work. The Indian ate the most meat.

Well call me an omnivore...I am not eating the icky bits. Although I've always found brain looks rather tasty when I've seen it, I don't know how good it actually tastes though...

I'm told that I can eat lots of meat without traveling to dirty far away countries. Typically with a lower chance of food poisoning.

I had an empanada last week that had lamb and chorizo sausage-- it was delicious

Sounds like already halfway through the dinner I would be so full, that not even 10000 € could persuade me to eat more

Yes, thought I had had the flavor before coming to Argentina.

I am also trying to find the best alfajores.
