There were no results found for your selection. There needed to be at least 100 people with the name on the Electoral Register in 1998 to be in the database. We are hoping to add these missing names at a later date

Where are you guys seeing this stuff about "social status"?

All I see are statistics about the frequency of the surname in the resitry and the rank order of frequency.

Interesting, 34% of the British population have a more high status name than Windsor. I guess the monarchy really is in decline.

"If this is your name: Congratulations, you are a genuine rarity, at least in the UK. Maybe you should try to breed, to avoid the [[surname]] family becoming extinct!"

                breeding wouldn't help my name.

                      Depends on the circumstances.

Actually that's an incredibly crass and stupid comment from the website, though. I expect they'll be getting some complaints about that.

Presumably they were suggesting that if someone, at some point, were to have offspring where that offspring were to keep the parent's name, the family name would be preserved.

While there is the obvious point that in many cases a woman does not get to pass her family name on, this does not always have to be the case.

As Drogue isn't here, I will reveal that he is in fact of a higher social status than everyone (almost). He ranks in with 2%. His is also an extremely rural name. He ranks in at 4%.

Just goes to prove that he is posh, despite his protestations to the contrary.
