Is that not what the aim of diversity is? A perfect and proportional blending of all cultures and races?

      No.

Your ability to create strawmen amazes and astounds me. And not in a good way.

I am not trying to create a strawman, really.

Is this not what advocates of diversity say is the ideal? I met plenty at my university, I even had to read some of the filth for my classes.

From a biological standpoint diversity increases a species chances of surviving a novel adverse condition. For instance if a population has genetic diversity it has a better chance of surviving a new plague. Compare how Native Americans fared in the face of small pox versus how Europeans fared against the bubonic plague. Europe lost about one-third of its population to plague in the 14th century and its population sprang back fairly quickly. Native American poplulations may have declined by more than 80% after exposure to European diseases, and their population never really recovered.

            Diversity doesn't equal homogenization.

Diversity sucks. It means I have to deal with the mudraces, like you kaolin-white martha fokkers.

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

I am very, very confident my culture is superior to others.

For example, my culture is VASTLY superior to any which says it is acceptable to oppress women.

All cultures are not created equal. There are cultures I have nothing to learn from and the world would be better without.

That said, I find it hard to buy into diversity. I see absolutely no inherent value to mixing races and cultures, in the same way there is no inherent reason to keep them apart. It is an amoral issue, with no reason to support it or really oppose it.

It can be very difficult to rank cultures as superior to others on a lot of issues.

If you asked me which culture is superior, the culture of say, northern ireland and prague, that is a lot harder and something I cannot easily answer.

Some issues though, it is easy.

Any culture which treats women like property and slaves, is worthy of nothing but scorn and inferior to my culture.

Likewise, can we not agree that any culture which sacrafices children in religious ceremonies is also inferior?

Many aspects of culture are relative though. Someone from a culture you view as backwards might think that our American culture as full of people who are spoiled consumerists living in an impersonal environment.

Let's throw in cultures that think murderers, rapists, child molestors and co-conspirators in a Ben and Jerry's takeover deserve scorn.
