        It's really odd to hear a British speaker use the word "skanky" in the sense of "promiscuous".

        When I lived there it only meant "unclean".

        As in: "I played football all day and now my clothes are all skanky".

        Not as in: "I slept with two guys in one night then rinsed my mouth with another guy. Now I feel skanky."

            Yes I went to Durham, but that was more than six years ago.

            Six years is probably enough time for Yank terms to spread into local parlance. The Californian Valley girl term "like" (meaning anything from "did" to "said" to "seemed") spread almost worldwide in a much shorter time...
