  • Cool, funny, or just plain different pictures of animals.

I was doing a bit of poking around on google and thought I'd share some of my finds. It would be cool if some of you did the same.

We'll start off with a picture of one brave little Norwegian sheep.

Here is a rather confused but horny moose.

Sometimes you really can get friends to pick your nose for you.

Ever seen a guerrilla walk a tight rope?

This is called a bleeding tooth fungus. Looks cool.

This dog really wants some peanut butter.

Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

This cat fish is trying to eat a basket ball. Unfortunately the ball is bigger then his head and its bouncy makes him float to the surface.

This little monkey just wants to give his fathered friend a hug.

        Cow licking dog.

        An invasion of badgers!

No idea what brought this behavior about but this Chinese Swan is feeding goldfish.

Sometimes the first one in gets eaten.

A giant spider web in Texas.

And since we're talking about spider webs here's a poor humming bird who got caught in one.

Sometimes you just need a smoke.

Most tigers swim but this Siberian tiger has taken up diving.

Cool video about a wild polar bear playing with someone's huskey in Canada. The photographer figured his dog was dead meat when the polar bear came running up to it but it turns out the 1200lb male bear was just bored.

Video of a pet dog who is a master of escaping the yard.

Cool video someone made of an American bullfrog.

Totally awesome short film about the giant underground cities built by South American leafcutter ants.

I'd be interested in learning how colonies of animals with little intelligence and collectively engineer and build such complex structures.

Another leaf cutter ant video. Not only were ants the world's first farmers, cutting leaves up into a mulch used to farm a fungus they eat, but they also use antibiotic. The same antibiotics humans use.

The cells of your body have no intelligence, yet they cooperate to keep your highly complex body working. Same with ant colonies.

I saw something like that fungus before when I was a kid, only it was blue and the bumps were more uniform in size and dispersion.

Yeah, I've been facinated by leaf cutter ants since I first saw them in Panama in 1996. Back then I just saw the trails of ants cutting leaves and carrying them back to their nest but in 2004 I went to Costa Rica and had a biologist show me one of their massive nests including a diagram of what a completed nest looks like. It was massive going two dozen feet under the ground and having dozens of chimneys. After that lecture at a Costa Rican nature center I really decided ants were smart little critters.
