I would prefer Motto of the week, assorted with a compulsory rule of never using it again after it has been awarded.
And I hope the first motto of the week to be : USA ! USA ! USA !
        Statistical anomaly.
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.

There is no need for a selection process. Just have one thread where people would cut and paste what they think was the post of the week (with a comment and a link to the post if they wish). One post per person, editing permitted until the end of the week. Comments allowed in the same thread but only the next week.

Alternatively, if the interest shows to be weak, we can make it a monthly thing instead of weekly.

I think we need two threads - one for Pekka postings and one for the rest of us. Noone can compete with Pekka
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

The point is not to compete, but to note posts which (for any reason whatsoever) stand out. They can stand out by being nonsense or for being smart or funny or wrong or ... anything.

There are plenty of posts worthy of recognition!

That's a great way of looking at it. Even a really stupid post can be funny

So posters get to pick 1 PotW and then the 5 judges pick 1 between themselves?

Well if you insist on competition you can have that. I'm perfectly satisfied with just having notable posts in one thread for entertainment. But nothing prevents a panel of judges from declaring a winner.

BlackCat is being modest, he produces plenty of "material" worthy of notice
