Oh, you betcha. Why else would they get their knickers in a twist because some darker-skinned guests might make a mess of their pristinely kept glass houses?

It was a huge spectacle, unlike all the movies you mentioned save Lion for Lambs, with big names, and in the US it made less than $50 million, which for a movie on it's scale, is poor.

I liked We Were Soldiers, apparently it depicts a time earlier on when the Viets were willing to take us on directly and why they changed tactics

I generally like war movies, if they're historically accurate thats even better

Band of Brothers, while not a Hollywood movie, got excellent reviews. I wouldn't call it pro- or anti- war, but it had enough scenes in it to make a person think twice about being gung-ho about war.

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

                              Lions for Lambs... bombed
                              Rendition... bombed

                              Redacted... to bomb?

Despite a who's who of top notch talent participating in the films.

SUNDAY AM: I heard Tom Cruise did Lions For Lambs for “virtually nothing” to help kick-start his revival of United Artists. Without that, the R-rated movie starring Cruise, Meryl Streep and Robert Redford, who also directed, never would have gotten off the ground. Maybe that would have been kinder. Because even with a very moderate budget of $35 […]

Some of these films even are in the majority opinion on these issues.

It used to be that Hollywood participated in the government's propaganda. But that hasn't been the case for the last 50 years.

My personal opinion is that Americans don't go into self flagellation. If Hollywood wants to put the hate on America, then middle America (and not so middle America) checks out.
Maybe they just don't support crappy films.
