  • Would you fly in this plane?

Silly passengers refuse to fly this plane all because the wing tip is broke off. See pic

An airline crew faced a rebellion when they told passengers they were going to fly on a jet that had lost its wing tip the day before in a runway crash

The thing to point out is pilots are people too, and it's unlikely they would fly a plane they knew was going to crash. That one egyptian pilot aside. Though I admit I would be a bit uneasy flying this plane. And it's not like pilots are engineers, how would they know what can fly and what cannot? It's not like they are in wartime and have experience flying planes with bits blown off of it.

I'll make it a poll since polls are fun.

No wonder its wing tip is broke off. The technician guy on your photo looks like lego.

It's a part of their job to know such things.

If it was the last plane out of Nam and Charlie and the NVA were closing in, and they wanted info I didn't have and would do any nasty thing to get it, yes. Otherwise no.

What's the point of flying and paying good money for it and being scared the whole time?

I guess that plane wouldn't pass what I'd call regular standards, fly or no fly.

There's not much missing Pekka, maybe 1%, that's not much of a ticket discount.

Please don't link to the Daily Mail again. They are completely misdirecting and probably lying.

It wasn't the British Airways plane (a 747) that the passengers were "revolting" over - but the picture is of the BA plane. Also, the BA plane pictured ordinarily flies to Singapore. The article also says the BA plane is grounded for repairs.

None of those above facts are apparent from a cursory glance of the headline and pictures.

The SriLankan Airlines customers had been on the Airbus A340 a day earlier when it sliced through a wing of a stationary British Airways 747 at Heathrow, delaying departure by 24 hours.

SriLankan Airlines insisted there was no danger in flying without a wing tip.

Lancer, It's like people who go "Well, it's 10% cheaper" and then they go and risk their health just because of what turned out to be just a few bucks.

Re: Would you fly in this plane?

That would depend on whether or not the plane flew.
