  • Things to see and do in San Francisco

I'll be in San Francisco until Friday, after a crazy work week in L.A.

What are Poly's recommendations that I go see and do?

Is there anyone in the area to meet up with?

San Francisco is outstanding. Try to cross the Bay Bridge and the Golden Gate Bridge. Go to Fisherman's Wharf. Lombardi St. Take the coast highway if possible.

if the Santa Ana's are blowin down south, SF should be having great weather... I suggest a drive up Twin Peaks for a night time overlook of the city.

I wonder if they still light the cross up at night, the Peaks are right next to Mt Davidson, somewhat famous for the huge concrete cross and the scene in Dirty Harry. We had a really long rope swing about 200 yds downhill and north of the cross, this thing must have been 75 ft or more and it was a blast. Ah the memories...

It actually snowed one year hard enough to stay on the ground a couple days. We played hooky and walked up Twin Peaks to look at the city and a cop drove by us with his passenger side window down to yell at us to get back to school I suspect. He didn't get the chance, a buddy of mine nailed him with a snowball and we took off into the snow

I know the Moscone convention Center complex pretty well...
And the restaurant scene there is amazing. Cool architecture, too.

I've always had a great time in Frisco, but it's always been for work, so I've never checked out the standard sights.

Go to North Beach and The Mission. Eat at a bunch of food.

Guys, I'm not American, so I'm on foot

I didn't want to rent a car, and judging from all the one-way traffic, I'm not sure I'd want to

Frisco's public transport is awesome. You can take the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) from the airport right to downtown, and all over the Bay area.

You can get plenty of info, including maps and schedules, at www.bart.gov.

Did you feel the earthquake where you are? Maybe you'll get to experience some aftershocks, too... (Not a big one, but it's there)

bart will work from the airport to the mission. you can get to north beach by foot. try having brunch at the cliff house out by ocean beach. you'll need to take a cab out there or find out about the bus system.

Yea, I definitely felt it, but it wasn't more than four small movements.

are there any poly tubbies in the frisco area? i was there recently. I was only interested in the trendy bars . They have some nice ones there. I wasn't there long, as I was with my cousin, and their view of vacationing is to spend only 1 day at a location. Went through Death Valley, Yosemite, San Fransisco, and very quickly Sequoia. And a quick stop off the pacific coast highway for the ocean. it was windy and cold, not like I was going to do something there. I hate oceans. Which is probably why I joined the navy. Oceans have this god aweful smell. I'll never figure out why people go to beaches.

                            You called?

Yes, The City is fantastic...but I will probably move after I graduate next summer due to the simple fact that I want to be a home owner again - and I REFUSE to pay over $700,000.00 for a very small "fixer-upper"!

PS: And yes, I too felt the quake last night. I just got done watching the Democratic Debate and soon there after is when a rolling quake hit (lasting about 20 seconds - no damage done) - At the time I wondered if it was God's response of anger or approval for the Debate...

Aye, I already understood from colleagues that the housing prices are crazy here...

If you're up for coffee or beer, let me know.
