"The DPRK is still in a state of war with the U.S. It's called a black out." - Che explaining why orbital nightime pictures of NK show few lights. Seriously.
is this legit, or something from saturday night live?
in any case I don't see that much problem with it. If you are going to own a shotgun, might as well have it accessible. Or it's pointless to own one in the first place. I never understood the point of gun locks and safes, by the time you unlock the thing, load it, turn the safety off if you have one, you are dead, or the criminal has taken the gun away from you.
As for kids, well... I don't have any. Just teach your kids to use guns responsibly.

I couldn't sleep easy with a loaded gun by my bed.
I keep my loaded gun by my bed. What's the point of having one then? (aside from collector reasons).
Unless you don't trust yourself. Or if you are sleep walkers that do things in their sleep, you probably don't want a loaded gun around.
Now if I brought home unstable women (pretty much the only women I can bring home), I might want to lock it up so when they get mad when I say something stupid (always happens), they don't kill me.
Nothing wrong or unreasonable about this. I take it you live in the suburbs and your mother tucks you in at night but the rest of us who live with the homies have to deal with this violent **** and this isn't a game for us.

Why would you want to hide your gun? Display it proudly at all times, that way it's easier to identify who's a true American and who's a terrorist or, even worse, a liberal.
True patriots have enough guns to both conceal and display, commie scum.
It is so amazing everyone thinks guns are so embarrassing. Someone has been watching too many of the fat Michael Moore's documentaries.
Exercising rights is important even if it's not necessary. It is important to seek happiness and own property at all times. It is important to talk even if you have little to say. It is important to protest even if there isn't anything that ridiculous going on. It is important to vote even if it makes no difference.
If we do not exercise our rights they will fade away. So it is important to own guns even if you live in Candyland like Spec, where there is no crime and only easy women. YOU ROLLED A FIVE , CONGRATULATIONS YOU GET LAID. Oh, you ROLLED A TWO. Sorry, no girls for you tonight, but FREE DRINKS FOR EVERYONE IF THEY CAN HOLD THEIR PISS!
So if we don't get piss drunk every night the government will institute a new prohibition?
I say if you don't object to things, don't protest, if you don't have anything to say, don't talk, and if you don't think your vote matters, don't vote.
This is correct, if no one drank we would lose our right to drink rather quickly. Stop being so intentionally thick, it will help not only here but also professionally.

No we wouldn't. If noone drank there'd be no reason to legislate against drinking. Also, that doesn't impact personel behavior in a society where that kinda stuff is fairly common.
And besides maybe Spec doesn't think we should have the right to bear arms.

I'm not intentionally thick, I just don't see the logic behind the whole "use it or lose it" approach to rights.

It is critical for as many people to drink as possible. If only a few drink, then the battered women and drunk driving victims will push their prohibition legislation through as quickly as they can.
