England are more than capable of screwing this up - even though Hrvatska have already qualified and might prefer to come second to be in the seedings pot with Austria, Switz and Greece.

Concede is a harsh word, but yes they were told the result and it affected their play. It was a lousy game anyway, more akin to waterpolo than football.

There is talk now that the second team is going out against England, though the selector hasn't confirmed that. Hopefully not.

He's very much liked. Great player and a good person, not arrogant or pretentious. His Croatian is pretty good too. Many were sad to see him go.
