Are you kidding me? Asher is right, this is the best time for games in years. For the PC alone recently released or coming soon:

    FPS:
    - Bioshock
    - Orange Box
    - Crysis
    - Enemy Territory: Quake Wars
    - Unreal Tournament 3
    - Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

    Action-Adventure:
    - Assassin's Creed
    - Kane & Lynch: Dead Men

    RPG:
    - Elder Scrolls IV: Shivering Isles
    - The Witcher

    Strategy:
    - Supreme Commander
    - World in Conflict
    - Civ4: Beyond the Sword
    - GalCiv2: Dark Avatar
    - GalCiv2: Twilight of the Arnor

    MMO:
    - WoW: Burning Crusade
    - Lord of the Rings Online
    - Tabula Rasa

    Casual:
    - Desktop Tower Defense
    - Peggle
    - Geometry Wars

    Other:
    - DiRT
    - Guitar Hero III

(And that's not counting early '08 releases like Age of Conan and Spore)

Sure, everyone has different tastes but there's got to be something of your liking on that list.

Edit: forgot The Witcher (sorry, not an RPG fan)

Remove BtS from that list and you'd be about right. When they balance spies to require strategy and not just praying to the RNG, it might make the list.
You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.

        Yup

Toys r us has a buy 2 get 1 sale going on right now. Too bad their selection varies drastically from store to store.

I could see being a bit nonplussed right now if you are pc only, but consoles and handhelds are in the midst of an amazing 6 months.

And you listed Civ3 as one of the good games. So your opinion on the matter has no standing.

EVE sucks too. Who wants to mine astroids and carry packages back and forth for 6 hours a day. If I wanted to be a miner or a courrier I'd do it in the real world and get paid in real money. MMO's

I just got KOTOR2 the other day, that's a good game.

I see you haven't played it to the end yet. It's terrible when compared with the original

I generally only play rpg's aside from Civ games.

I still have yet to get the civ expansion, so my plate is full right now with games.

I'm currently playing nwn2, and will most likely get that expansion as well. A little buggy, but the story is worth is imho. My system can barely handle it though.

So I have plenty to do. And I need to spend less times playing games and more time looking for a job.

As for world of warcraft: I'm completely spent. I'm so sick of that game. Had fun for a while, but once you hit 70 it becomes too much like work.

because of that I don't even want to look at Eve . Though I seen my brother play it when it first came out, really didn't interest me that much. And I must resist EQ2 as well. But my internet connection still isn't the most stable, but has improved since it cooled down. So I'm trying to avoid mmorpg's. They are a huge time sink.

So my future will be finishing nwn2, getting new civ expansion and new nwn2 expansion.

edit: a post above makes me realize I still want to try Oblivion again. But that will come after I build a new computer next year (trying to get 4 years out of this pos I have now). EQ2 will also come after building a new system if I play that at all.

I hear you about Eve, just seemed boring. Though I did play world of warcraft, so I sort of like mmo's.

KOTOR2 was a great game. a bit unfinished at the end (think the publisher pushed them to get the game out early). Haven't played since any patches may have been done. I'd like to go back and replay both kotor's at some point. playing NWN2 has made me realize how much I miss the KOTOR games. Especially since some of the voice actors in nwn2 seem like kotor 1 and 2 voice actors.

Civ3 is crap compared to civ4. Yeah I do have some good memories of the conquests scenarios, but I by no means want to play that game anymore.

Civ4 is everything civ3 was but 10 times better. I can't think of any good elements civ3 has that civ4 doesn't have.

How about teh element of not showing that teh franchise intends to sell out to teh RPG crowd?

                            I do neither. Never have.

And EVE is nothing like WoW. At all, it is like comparing Day of Defeat and Civilization.

I tried EVE several times. Every time I tried mining, peaceful pursuits etc and quit soon.

Taking a violent path is much, much more fun(and way more profitable) really enjoying it.
