But the marchers will be "preaching to the choir" as the saying goes. The people doing the violence won't change b/c of this.
It's a common problem (youth violence) and Facebook grieving is nothing new.

No, they won't change because of the marches themselves. But the marches are more for the people participating than the spectators. The goal here is to create awareness of a growing problem. If the awareness exists, then the changing of opinions and attitudes can begin.
And the marchers aren't aware of the problem? What are they marching for? To convince the "problem" youth would be my guess. A march won't change the behaviour of these people. It's naive to think it will.

The marchers are aware, that's not why they march. By coming together it creates a feeling of unity. It's what all marches are for really. To create unity around a cause. And to show others that there are people united around this cause. You can't convince people to stop doing something just by marching, it requires other means of persuasion as well. And I haven't said that marching will solve all the problems, it's you who keep bringing that up. And I don't know why...

Right. A "feel good" exercise.

Other means with more efficacy I presume.

You claim this march is a good thing in that it will help address the problem (you said it yet again above). I say you are fooling yourself. All it does is make like minded people feel better.

Good to see youth violence has now been addressed in Sweden. Good work.

I recently created a Facebook account after an old high school friend I hadn't seen in 4 years invited me to join. The problem is there is this fat chick I don't even know constantly messaging me.
