  • Carter: US Tortures

The United States tortures prisoners in violation of international law, former President Carter said Wednesday.

Will he do another 180 as soon as the heat is turned up?
"In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed. But they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love. They had 500 years of democracy and peace. And what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."

To do "another 180," it is first necessary to do a 180.

What bothers me about Carter is that he will make a provocative political statement and then immediately make another statement nullifying what he originally stated.

          It is maddening.

This would have made an excellent post in our existing thread about torture.

You care what Carter says for what reason?

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

Carter was an idiot President and has really grown in that role as a former President.
"I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you're not patriotic. We should stand up and say we are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration." - Hillary Clinton, 2003

Yes, he believes morality has a role to play in government and international politics. What a nOOb!

The Bush Administration has shown the proper role of government is to lie, cheat, steal, and beat up on those who are unable to defend themselves.

                        Bushie's the worst.
Carter might be the second worst.
I loved Ford to death, but he was as ineffective as a broken violin. His "Whip Inflation Now" (WIN) campaign went nowhere.

Bush is a walking disaster. No contest.
