Cancun is ridiculously developed, though. Even been there? There's over 24,000 hotel rooms in Cancun - I doubt any single Caribbean country (besides Mexico, if you count that as Caribbean) has that many.

Also note the comparison to Jamaica, another country.

You're actually about the same according to the WHO.

The entire country of Cuba can't beat the development of a single Mexican tourist destination?

Jamaca, 1/3 odd the size of Cuba attracts almost as many tourists? Is this in support of Cuba?

Feel free to name a single Caribbean country that can. Are none of them significant tourist destintations?

It's only in support of Cuba getting a decent number of tourists. Do you think Jamaica doesn't or, more precisely, doesn't do some things up for the benefit of tourists? That was my point.

Gotcha, but then again nobody is holding Jamaica up as a Utopia either.

Are you under the impression I'm holding Cuba out as a Utopia? I'm just saying they get lots of tourists and have modern infrastructure in tourist areas. It would stand to reason, then, that there may be "show hospitals" (I frankly don't know and don't care one way or the other). I would think that latter point would very much align with your views.

The comparison to the Eiffel tower aint fair, France is te most visited country on earth, and it is in europe, so it is easy for germans, englishmen etc to visit it, it is a less than 1 hour trip. Compare Cuba with other caribbean countries.

had a few friends go for a holiday there and I am looking forward to as well, as per their comments it was great... so I assume it is "western level" tourist resourts, and I assume that the rest of the country isn't "slums" either, as in Commie countries slums per se do not exist - everyone is equal, at a lower level than let's say middle class UK but I would bet it is either on the same level or maybe even better than working class here (not on the level of gadgets, but I normal necessities, like housing, medical, education etc... the last two almost certainly beter than many of the poorer areas in UK) ... but hey I would bet they don't even know that themselves... not every commie country is like former USSR, or "behind the Iron Curtain" countries, but I guess this type of image is the first thing that comes to mind after 50 years of cold war.

the Americans - how would they know? they are under the Cuban embargo (or is it the other way around).

There are quite a few, there's been a flood of »silly Americans get it wrong again« discussions and even a few minimal responses from our ministry of health and the ministry for foreign affairs and the ministry of truth (well all except the last, but since you don’t speak Slovenian It may as well be, I mean you only have my word for it and possibly some links on my governments sites, but how could you trust those? ).

I’ve never waited in line for more than an hour . I only once had something urgent and that was taken care of in twenty minutes. The system is universal but if you have money you can get private healthcare. We do have problems (over-worked doctors, a rapidly aging population, some infrastructure issues, poor oncology and a right-wing government that’s driving the system into the ground instead of going in the Nordic direction) but if I studied both from the “original position” as presented by John Rawls I would choose the Slovenian system.

                                Epic fail.

You do know what Rawls' original position is, do you not?
