I have a cousin who married his father's new wife's sister (my cousins aunt / by marriage).

Keeping track of their chidren's relations to others was too hard.

I was an uncle (half uncle?) at the age of 6 months...

              Congrats

Are we to be supplied with a full hereditary tree of the lordship anytime soon?

While I have no wish to pour cold water on the celebrations of the excellent news of the latest addition to the Greater Clan of the Mark, what exactly is the personal contribution made by LOTM in this achievement?

Or have I misunderstood the meaning of the word 'congratulations'?

Please don't take offense, LOTM. It's just that I don't know much about how extended families work.

geez, Im not sure I want to do all that work. BTW, this is my wifes neice of course. We have small families on my side, and bear children late. Its the other side where a brother in law in his mid - sixties can be a great grand father.

                    Absolutely zilch, nada, gonischt.

have I misunderstood the meaning of the word 'congratulations'?

Indeed. One congratulates on the change of status, its not connected to any actual achievement. Kind of feudal, or socialistic, if you prefer.
