I have a neighbour down the hall who was beaten up in her apartment about a month ago. She was in the hospital for a week. I saw her when she was released and she looked like a raisin. Every square inch of visible skin was purple. She's in her 50's and somewhat frail so I don't know how the beating didn't kill her. Apparently it was a couple "friends" of hers.

      Get a rope.

I was talking to this guy at work yesterday, and he told me that he got rid of his cat. I said, I had to put a cat to sleep once. Then he looked at me like I was a murderer, and said, I would never kill a cat. It seems that he just drove away and dropped it off somewhere.

Anyway, this is a spam thread, right?

              So did I.

I think Pekka is done with this thread so I will continue my story. Let me get my toast and tea first and I'll get back to it.

About a week after she returned home from hospital I heard sounds of another fight coming from her apartment. Yelling, things thrown, crashing dishes, etc. Not wanting a homicide in the building I decide to call the cops.

I call 911, tell them who I am and what the situation is. I stress that this is the same apartment where a woman was beaten senseless a couple weeks earlier. "They're on their way." Great, I go outside to meet them in the parking lot.

10-15 minutes later(!) a cruiser pulls into the lot. I meet the officers (1 male, 1 female), quickly tell them what is going on and that I will be glad to give a statement but someone really should go in and see that MS Raisin is still alive. I'm not going anywhere and will be here to provide details after the safety issue is dealt with.

Nope, they take my statement first. Another 5-10 minutes pass while this is being done. As I am finishing my statement the Emergency Response truck pulls up (SWAT types, the reason for the delay apparently). Approximately 1/2 hour from the time I placed the call a cop finally ventured into the building!

I don't know the details of what happened at this point but I am told: Ms. Raisin was fighting with her biyfriend this time (this would be the same boyfriend that stabbed her through her hand with a pencil about six months ago...). The boyfriend claims she was the aggressor and apparently the cops believed him b/c they sent him on his way to find somewhere else to spend the night (he wasn't arrested and it was her apartment).

All I could think was it was a good thing she wasn't being beaten. With the response time of the cops she would have been dead. With this type of response policy I can only presume the London Police Service will be involved in an inquest before too long.
