Clearly a socialist economy would never have any reason to use these hormones. It's impossible that they are, in fact, a useful tool to increase output, and are a positive contribution to our economy. Right?

On the contrary. While you believe that your government is infallible, I see two different opinions: the U.S. and Canada saying it is okay, the EU saying it is not.

I'll side with caution because the benefits of using the drugs do not justify its use.

Popular sentiment in the EU has said it is not, the FDA (possibly influenced by drug companies) has said that it is. The FDA is the only one that has the chance of having science on its side; Europe's popular opposition is completely uninformed.

I think the problem now would be providing a list of products imported from China that are safe for the consumer to use since the country seems to be shipping so much poisonous crap over here. It will aid the consumer in thier purchases.

Having dealt with both the FDA and the MHRA I would have to say that the MHRA is way more anal about food and drug safety than the FDA. Not that public opinion encourages this one way or another. However, the MHRA, in the drug industry at least, is a bigger stickler about the manufacturing process where as the FDA is more concerned about tracability and QA release. Meaning, the drugs may be fine, but if they aren't made a certain way then they aren't fine. This goes for animal drugs or people drugs.

Still, how China thought they'd get away with making drug coctails is beyond me.

Next thing you know they'll be lining lunch boxes with lead!

Who said it was? Chinese government ministries hold weekly news conference. Every week, the Chinese government announces some type of safety recall (and the situation is so bad that it does seem to happen every week). And some weeks, the Chinese government restrictions on imported goods, some weeks they don't.

Just because sometimes A and B get announced together doesn't invalidate B.
