  • Are US Soldier's American Citizens?

I'm watching Gonzales' farewell ceremony on c-span, and I have a few questions.

Craig Morford, Acting Deputy Atty General, says that we have been safer in the 6 years since 9/11 because of all the terror attacks America has endured since then listing those that occurred overseas. So it leads me to ask, do the deaths of our soldiers due to insurgent attacks not count as attacks against America and it's citizens?

The next question is, if Gonzales did so many great things, why will he be remembered for a corruption scandal that forced him to resign in digrace? Meanwhile, these great accomplishments have yet to be elucidated.

"do the deaths of our soldiers due to insurgent attacks not count as attacks against America and it's citizens"

Yes and no. Yes in a way that they're Americans and they've lost their lives in the battlefield, however, not in the sense of that they are soldiers and they're doign war, it's not an active attack "against the people". So no.

"The next question is, if Gonzales did so many great things"

He didn't do anything great, quite the opposite.
    In da butt.

The scandal wasn't about corruption and he didn't resign in disgrace. It was more about him making a rookie mistake. He told the congress one thing while his department was giving the congress documents showing something else.

You shouldn't be making rookie mistakes by the time you're working in the White House. Come on, now.

it is not a requirement to be a U.S. citizen to be a U.S. soldier. I've know filipinos in the navy who were not citizens (though he was in the process of obtaining citizenship)

But if over ten thousand Americans are dying to insurgent attacks each year, are we really better off than before 9/11?
