I think they got what they thought they might sell in a week or probably less. Divide a week into 2 months. What do you get?

Like I said, I dont know the logistics chains in this industry. I dont know where title passes, or who runs the transport and warehousing. If anyone knows, feel free to post it. I havent yet seen any clear assertion on that from you or from Asher, and Im genuinely curious.

Second, this is a new product. How long would you think that ATT would react, if they were responsible for extensive logistics planning? A month?

I dont know. It would depend on a lot of things Id think.

Certainly you can't believe that ATT's logistical responsibilities goes beyond holding at local distribution centers and delivery to stores?

The only thing it would depend on is whether ATT managers are complete idiots with no training at all. Asher is claiming that ATT is warehousing hundreds of thousands of phones.

        Asher,

Exactly how many hundreds of thousands of iphones are you claiming ATT is warehousing just that we know?

Do you understand that container ships are used to ship these products from China to USA? Do you know how long that trip takes?

Yes, they got what they thought they might sell. I am saying they very likely sold a lot less than they expected, given the enormous sales marketshare the Apple Stores have.

You seem to think that there aren't "waves" of shipments on container ships bound from China. AT&T probably had to order at least one month in advance the entire first month's shipping schedule. They come on container ships from China.

So even if they judge in the first week sales were below expectations, they continue receiving the shipments. They can't immediately say "Nah, we don't want anymore"...they already bought X many weeks of stock.

It's absurd to give a fixed number. I'm just saying it's very likely that there is a large number of phones that AT&T isn't selling, because people are buying from Apple.

And no, it's not "just us" that know. Why, exactly, do you think the price of Apple and AT&T shares declined with news of the pricecut? Smart investors began connecting the dots as well.

BS. They order from Apple, and Apple delivers the next day probably. Maybe up to a week.

Nokia uses a technology that's even more advanced than the iPhone's tap screen, allowing you to actually feel the keys you press as you're pressing them! The technology is called "tactile response," and it allows you to do things like dial a phone number without staring at your screen like a ******* ape. In fact, every other cellphone ever made has this technology, sometimes called "buttons."

You said most before. That's over 500,000. I would like an idea of what you are thinking. Because if it's less than 200,000 that's not really saying much.

And no, it's not "just us" that know. Why, exactly, do you think the price of Apple and AT&T shares declined with news of the pricecut? Smart investors began connecting the dots as well.
Yes, the stock prices fell because investors expected the price to stay at the same for longer. However, if investors thought that excessive inventories were backing up at ATT and the sales figures were misleading the stock prices would have fell a whole hell of a lot more than they did. You are talking about actions that warrant SEC investigation.

That's funny, it took them 3 weeks to ship me my laptop from China...and that was couriered, not on a container ship.

Methinks you've no clue how logistics work for consumer electronics.

...because they expected stronger demand resilience.

How many times do we need to explain this to you? There's no collusion or anything illegal going on. It's AT&T likely placing a huge order that they aren't selling through rapidly since people are buying at Apple Stores, not AT&T stores.

I give up. This is futile.

Really? With the high value, even at wholesale, of these phones, and the fact that its a product launch (with natural uncertainty as to sales) i'd be surprised it wasn't by air. Although air rates are higher lately with fuel prices up.

You don't think Apple has distribution centers in the US? Why would they deliver directly from China? That makes no sense. Your whole theory is ridiculous almost past the point of comprehension (it would be if this weren't poly).

You are comparing how long it took to deliver something to your door, to how long it takes to get a delivery to a store?

And 3 weeks is pretty long time even for that.
