Better or worse than 51st State? I'm going better, because at least the Queen is their "head of state."

I am no geography expert, but it seems to me that this thread has generated some confusion, as to what constitutes the UK, and what is just Commonwealth

Well yeah, but so were we...

edit: crosspost. Yeah, the Commonwealth is another matter. It's the UK + a bunch of ex-colonies.

It never was a part of the UK. UK consist of Scotland, England and Wales. Ireland was later added, but then the title was "UK and Ireland" IIUC.

No, Great Britain refers to England+Scotland+Wales. So it's "Teh United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland."

                          Austria
                          Spain
                          Greece
                          Germany
                          Switzerland
                          Italy
                          Malta
                          Israel
                          Egypt

Anyway, I'm still planning to travel through South America, from Mexico to Argentine by some other method of transport than airplane, taking my time.

Another trip is going to be SEA, this is the one I'll get to do next and if I'm going to live in Singapore (it seems so now), I'll be able to travel the nearby countries so... looking forward to that. So then I can do my SEA tour, but then I'd love to also spend at least a month in India. Then I'd like to see China and Japan extensively. Then after that, I'll have to see my favourite places again and spend time or go to the next continent, Africa!

UK = United Kingdom of Great Britain (i.e. England, Scotland & Wales) and Northern Ireland.

...okay, and maybe the Isle of Mann.
                            ...and those other islands.

The kingdoms that were united were.....[fill in the blank].

What you want to call the UK is upto you though. Its definition surely changes over time and depending on who you ask.
One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.
