    Once upon a time, futurist were predicting we'd be living in domed cities by now.

    Well, where are they? Are they even technologically possible to build?

            If the outside atmosphere is totally polluted, you'll know

            It also helps to keep evildoers (like immigrants etc) out, and prevents cheap labour from running away (to be immigrants somewhere else).
