They're on vacation - for a couple weeks, IIRC.
The resignation is long overdue, IMO, but I guess when the boss is telling the incompetent-in-question that he's doing a great job, he sticks around for a while.
The scary thing is who's the next incompetent that Bush is going to appoint.

President Bush today praised Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales, whose tenure has been marred by accusations of perjury before Congress, as “a man of integrity, decency and principle.”
If Bush can't say anything remotely related to the truth, then at least he should stay quiet.
Whatever respect the US presidential post once had, for me it is gone with Bush. There is no reason to believe anything he says is true.
When they said "we have indisputable evidence that Iraq has weapons of mass destruction" (or something to that effect), I considered it likely that they were telling the truth, based on their word.
Anything the White House says today, my reaction is "yeah right, they are a bunch of lairs."
I'm amazed that he lasted this long, to be honest. He didn't have a handle on what his department was turning over to congress, which is a rookie mistake.
As for whether this is a record of running through cabinet ministers, this isn't even remotely close. Bush still has had an extremely stable cabinet.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891
Mostly because he hasn't gotten rid of incompetance when he should have.
