Not anymore. The same can not be said of Vatican City.

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

Perhaps a dwarf state classification is in order then?

Oh come on. There's a horde of microstates around.

Vatican City, Andorra, San Marino, Singapore, Monoco, Lichtenstein, Bhutan are a few that pop to mind.

Well, sure, although I think Vatican City is the smallest.

Also, doesn't Switzerland have the monopoly of violence on the Vatican City's territory?

Also, does anyone think I'm making a serious argument here?

You have to walk at least 50 kilometers for it to be a real pilgrimage imo, so whats the point?

I would like to make a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, but walking all the way from France to Santiago, not taking an airplane and landing there

Isnt the Vatican the size of a zoo or botanic garden?
I think it is more like the glorified headquarters of a company than a state

Yeah, but there are only two definitions of state. One: the ability to kill anyone that says you're not a state. Two: All the other places that say they're states say you're a state, too.

                  Actually, I was wrong twice.
I was thinking of Sikkim, not its neighbor Bhutan.
And Skikim isn't a nation, but a part of India.

No, dead popes. Holy water is in far too short supply.

Ehr, holy water is pretty easy to produce - just get some guy to flick his fingers and mumble a bit and it's holy.
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
