I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.
Bit late now as i've voted a number of times but a question occurred to me. Are we voting generally on whichever civilization achieved the higher greatness in their time, or the greater lasting impact?
Obviously the latter favours the older civilizations, whilst the former gives america a bit more of a fighting chance. But it leaves China and India in a peculiar place as many consider they didn't leave a noticeable mark on western civilization, merely a trickle through middlemen. Does that diminish their achievements?
I don't expect a consensus on this mid contest but it might be interesting to hear a bit of reasoning from people as they vote.
I'm also a bit dissapointed that apart from america and rome everyone seems to be getting around the same points (very slightly lower for persia/china/india though), which is good in a way cos all the civs left are very worthy, but it seems the conclusion will be a crapshoot, anything could happen.
