  • Street named under mysterious circumstances

This is a real street (in a New Zealand city). I'm kind of wondering how it ended up with that name. It was surely named more than 50 years ago. Was there some poor sod whose name was Newbie? (there is Newby as a last name), is a bie something? Did some city planner just feel that "Newbie" was a funny word to name a street? (wait, is that a valid street naming criteria?)

All new streets in the US are named Martin Luther King, so we can't be as creative as you guys.

Not a street, but I live next to a Father John Stanislaus Cuddy Memorial Bridge. I love saying this name.

I think the local legend is that FJSC jumped off the bridge onto the train tracks below with predictable results, but I could be making that up.

Well, the people responsible for naimng streets in germany sometimes are also very creative.
In Bochum there near the city center you can find a street named ABC-Street

Can you imagine being a gamer living on that street?

There's a street near me and there are 4 signs, one on each corner, all displaying the name of this street, and all are different... however, the actuall street name never changes... Bell, Bells, The Bell, The Bells...

Also, there is a Wolfangel, and everyone prounces it Wolfangle. You gotta love the innocent ignorance of the Midwest.

The paint on the sign looks suspiciously fresh. I think I can make out "Asher St" underneath. Or is it "EoN St".

"Under Mysterious Circumstances" would make a great street name.

If I ever get to name a street I would probably go with something like "Hell", "A Rock", or "Albequerque"

So if some asks "where do you live" you cold say "On A Rock"

Or if they ask how to get to your place you can tell them "Go to Hell and make a left at Albequerque"

My work address is on Grand Avenue.

Original, the street was called Charity, but the residence got rired of being kidded for "living on Charity."

World's End Lane. I've often wondered who would name a road that. There are quite a few of them too.
