I was talking with an Indian coworker and the subjects of the dalits came up (which usually does when having conversations with me
). Yet he had no idea what I was talking about. Now many times he's talked about all the glories of India. It's clean water, low crime, and cures for cancer and nearly all "untreatable" diseases. Yet, he couldn't speak about the caste system. Also, when discussing pre-British rule in India, he seemed convinced that India was a unified empire at the time on par with Western nations. So I'm curious as to what Indians are taught in their schools, because it seems at times to vary greatly from what other people are taught and from the realm of reasonable possibility.
