  • RIP Anthony H. Wilson

    UKers where is this thread.

The 57-year-old founder of Factory Records and the legendary Hacienda nightclub in Manchester has died of a heart attack.

He'd recently had a kidney removed after being diagnosed with cancer.

He launched bands like New Order, Joy Division and the Happy Mondays. Both Factory Records and the Hacienda closed down in the 90s.

Tony Wilson's life was made into a film called 24 Hour Party People in 2002. His character was played by comedian Steve Coogan.

I'm surprised there wasn't a thread on here about this earlier...you can tell this board is populated by philistines...

Who is Anthony Wilson? Is he any relation to Richard Wilson? How 'bout Harold Wilson?

Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.

I can't believe this thread has only got 3 or 4 posters though...it is a bit shocking.

An internet forum manages not to have very many nightclub goers. Shocking, isn't it.

I'm a few years too young to have been swept along by "Madchester", but I was lucky enough to be a guest on Wilson's radio show a couple of months ago. He was friendly, engaging and professional. He had real faith in Manchester and will be greatly missed.
