First, a big thank you to Rah for making this thread possible by changing the name of the other thread by the same name...
Anyway, Asher the Christian rock band...
Anyone heard their music at all? Why do they do it I ask you, what is the point of all these Christian rock bands...?
Apparently they decided to form because they 'were fed up with the barrenness of their own spiritual condition and were desperate to find God in a real and tangible way.'
Surely their lives were barren because they believed in God? Because frankly it's boring wasting all your perfectly good free time the way religious people do, having to be good all the time and avoiding impure thoughts etc...
Seriously, if you listen to their music it is insipid stuff by people wanting to experience life, but bound by the suffocating rules of religion - like vegetarians who miss meat by eating their food shaped as burgers or sausages, or coffee without the caffeine... The vicious circle of guilt...
What's the point? Why torture yourselves with songs like 'The Gracious One', 'Shout for Praise' and 'This Side of Heaven' - they all miss that element of what it means to proper rock music! Either that, or they're just crap...
