I'll grant you from the link that it looks really bad. To repeat, given the time that has elapsed and the stonewalling, we will probably never know. Never underestimate the power of stonewalling/incompetency/PR paranoia to so muddy the waters that one can get away with murder if one knows how to capatilize on the aforementioned items, especially in a war zone.

I don't think anyone is suggesting Bush is responsible for fragging Tillman. However, someone is responsible for covering up the fact that it was friendly fire, and it may well be just the usual ass-covering reflex that covered up the possibility he was fragged.

We already know that the administration will spread BS about soldiers. That poor Lynch girl is evidence of that. She seems such a sweet and inoffensive person, and she had to put up with that bull.

Agathon - if you read Slaughtermeyer 's link the coverup was done immediately AT THE BASE. While I may not be fond of this administration, this was very probably the usual butt tightening of most people in authority when something bad happens - Tillman was killed!!! By friendly fire!!! Cover it up, burn all the evidence. "Burning" the evidence, especially the order involved, was done in a paticularly stupid way - too many people involved, etc. It looks like a pure panic response, which sadly MAY have premitted someone to get away with murder. Again, there will never be any way to know (I am assuming no rounds were recovered and the punched out the back of the skull at those ranges). I am also assuming the shots were not close enough to produce powder burns.
