For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

You're overlooking the fact that lots of Americans are naturalized citizens, and so literally are from someplace other than the US. Most naturalized Americans are used to answering that question, just like most Americans with unisual last names are used to answering questions like, "Dvorak? What is that -- Polish?" It's understood what the question really is, and no offense is taken in the asking -- it's all part of being an American -- unless the answer elicits a dumb**** response like this one.Originally posted by BlackCat
Nah, no need to rant - I think that we agree
I have no problem with people saying that their cultural background is country XXX - though, when they enter service, they are no longer a citicen of XXX but of the country that they serve. While the guy may be of egyptian descendant and is the result of egyptian culture, he still is an american and ditto soldier."I have as much authority as the pope. I just don't have as many people who believe it." — George Carlin

Yeah, that was a pretty stupid comment. I don't think I would have cussed at her, but I don't think he was wrong to have done so. Stupid *****es like her(and stupid guys like her) need to be thrown from Helicopters.Originally posted by DinoDoc

Yeah, technically you are right, but he isn't an egyptian soldier - he's an american.Originally posted by snoopy369
BC, she asked where he was from (originally, presumably). Egypt is and always will be the correct answer for that soldier. With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

..so? You know how many people ask where I'm from because of my accent? You know how often I've been called a "liar" when I answer "San Diego"?
**** her. Egypt is a perfectly reasonable answer.Today, you are the waves of the Pacific, pushing ever eastward. You are the sequoias rising from the Sierra Nevada, defiant and enduring.

What makes you think she is a hick? Could just as easily be a prissy socialite from NYC.If some $#^@ hick
And **** her. Does she realize you don't have to be an American citizen to serve in the military? Obviously not."The DPRK is still in a state of war with the U.S. It's called a black out." - Che explaining why orbital nightime pictures of NK show few lights. Seriously.

She's a bigot, plain and simple.
For one thing, she fails to realize that al Qaeda/Talaban's jihad has killed many, many, many times more Muslims than it's killed Americans. Even the 9/11 attack took the lives of Palestinians and Turks working in the World Trade Center.
