There is a single vent, over which a techtonic plate is passing. It started pumping out lava at the northern part of the achipeligo, creating Kauai & Niihua, then later Oahu, and down the chain. Now, the vent is under the southern part of the Big Island. It currenly building volcanos there. It won't be far enough south of the Big Island to create a new island for tens of thousands of years.
By then, there won't be a U.S.

Easy. Assume it's really a "Hawaiian island" like you said in the title. Hawaii = US, and the waters around Hawaii are of course US territorial waters. Therefore such an island can per definition never ever pop up in international waters.Originally posted by Lancer
