Sounds like it's high-time to ban this Juneteenth nonsense once and for all. The Emancipation Proclamation was given January 1st, not in f*cking June. Morons. [/troll]
The cake is NOT a lie. It's so delicious and moist.

The Emancipation Proclamation was worthless political bull**** anyway.

Jesus was born in August, 4 BCE. Christmas should be moved accordingly. [/not a troll ]

            Yeah well, anyway.

Beyond what the penalty will be for the person(s) resonsible, what will be the backlash on future celebrations.
            The celebration wasn't responsible.
Yet, should it be addressed much as the Star and Bars?
Some will say it's not the same, yet it is in many ways.
It perpetuates a division from history that shouldn't have bearing today.

Then, there is the act. When identified, in Texas it will almost certainly be the dp.

The government (state and local) has a responsibility to regulate the safety of large groups and gatherings. Had the police already been posted for crowd control, the mob might not have been so quick to form and kill the victim. The police might have been able to respond to the accident quickly and take the driver into custody before the mob could, or perhaps the mob would have simply held the driver knowing the police were already on crowd control and very nearby. Either way, this was unforgivable behavior by the crowd and I'm sure the child when he (she? conflicting reports) grows up will rest easy knowing some innocent bystander was brutally murdered for him (her?) and his non-life-threatening injuries.

This reminds me of that CSI Vegas episode with the cabbie beaten to death by a mob of white guys. The kid he ran over was already dead in the street and when he went back into his cab he was radioing for help, not trying to escape. To match this Juneteenth incident, the mob of white guys should have pulled out the cabbie's female passenger and beaten her to death.
