JWST is surprisingly big. They had a model of it down on the National Mall a few weeks ago.

I think that article is wrong, however. JWST will not capture the visible spectrum.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

The mirror in my entrance hall is 2-3 meters wide. Not quite as large but not too shabby either.

The sun shade is actually the biggest part of the telescope. Pretty large in real life, and I would be surprised to learn that the model had a smaller-than-actual sun shade.

Shouldn't that be, "a good new"?

Not the entire visible spectrum. It has some reach into the red end of it.

I hope whoever is making this mirror gets this one right.
