Try to be sympathetic. You're dealing with someone mortally afraid that it he stops pulling figures out of his arse, he might get a penis up it. And enjoy it.

No, I remember hearing about it on the news and reading it on the internet during the 2004 election when they were talking about some of the reasons the Democrats lost. One of them was the gay marriage issue and how it crosses party lines, which is why Clinton said they should be against gay marriage.

80% seems high, but not ridiculously so. A majority of Americans support either gay marriage or civil unions, but the pro-gay marriage contigent is a pretty small minority on its own.

80% seems ridiculously high to me, but I'm probably using a different definition of 'ridiculous'.

It isn't ridiculous in the sense that we're happy that Eyes cited a percentage below 100%. He's a special guy...

Anyways, here's the latest poll that I could find:

            Gallup Poll. May 10-13, 2007. N=1,003 adults nationwide. MoE ± 3.

Do you think marriages between same-sex couples should or should not be recognized by the law as valid, with the same rights as traditional marriages?"

And things will change. The younger generation is more supportive than the elders of gay marriage. And the more people see of it, the less they fear it.

I myself have gone from anti-gay marriage, to pro-civil unions, to pro-gay marriage.
