The Russians were at the end of their huge manpower reserves and past the end of their supply lines. The US and UK would have owned the skys soon after the outbreak of hostilities. The '50s they had no chance. The '70s are another matter.Long time member @ Apolyton

Exhaustion in Britain and the CW was as great if not greater than in Russia.
5 years would have allowed a lot of time for new soldiers, as well as the absorbsion of WP populations. Democracies would have faced the same old problems. 'Is this a real threat? Do we do something about it?' By the time Western European politicians asked the second question, the Red Army would have been on the Channel. Before they answered it Scottish children would have been learning Russian in school.
Incidently, the Red Airforce was not an insignificant force. To sit back and say that the US and Britain could have hid under the cover of airpower is a bit improbable.(\__/)
