A fair number, I would guess. Do you have any objective method to measure such a thing?
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

You both gave the same cite, and that site places Ohio uni as the largest in the Us due to enrollment....

Rather, Ohio State University. Ohio University is another.

You go and check every department from each of the universities and see if it has been givien world calss research status by an independant body, such as the THEG.

That sounds like a task for Krill, after a few drinks on a Friday.

And could you fetch me another beer while you're up?

Nice try. I asked the question, you can refuse to answer it if you want; whatever it reflects it reflects upon you.

Is it possible to build a university and a university town just like that, from scratch, in a period of two decades? Specially one which is supposed to have 1,00,000 students? And a town population of 5,00,000?
I went to the University of California at Santa Barbara (ranked over all in the US at 40th place out of all schools, 7th in the country in my major; geology) and it is a town with a population of around 250,000 and 85,000 students. Granted the school was heavily subsidized by the state and has been around since 1940 or so but still. It still attracted leaders in my field and is very well placed in the field of geology.

I'll just wait for you to compile the info for me.
