nominal per capita gdp vs ppp per capita gdp vs hdi

        My opinion

hdi has some freaky results, like cuba having a high development (which is true regarding education and health, but then la havana looks like a city in ruins, cars look 40 years old, and people use salt instead of toothpaste)

nominal gdp is the most objective one, but is seriously affected by devaluations and (apreciation?revaluation?) of currencies, so a country can change a lot from one year to the other.

gdp per capita adjusted with power purchasing parity, is what tells you best how developed is a country in comparison to others.

China fares a lot better in PPP than Germany. For domestic consumption we get told the nominal figures at home, but everyone with brains knows Germany is the 5th largest economy of the world, not the 3rd largest.

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

It seems that you think its most important for the richest people in the country to be richer than in other countries. Have you seen US cities?

So developing countries shouldn't go primarily for sheer economic growth and developped countries should?

we are talking about comparing countries, not goals for countries.
