"Gadahn, who appeared in an al-Qaida video last September in which he called on Americans to convert to Islam, demanded that Bush remove all U.S. military and spies from Islamic countries, free all Muslims from U.S. prisons and end support for Israel. He said a withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq alone would not satisify al-Qaida."


Ok, end support for Israel, pull US troops out of muslim countries, we've all discussed that.

Pull spies out? How will they verify THAT? Pull out the semi-overt CIA station chiefs? Pull out all CIA operatives, including actually covert ones? How will they know we've done that? Or will they insist that any American they dislike not enter the muslim world? Or any American at all? How about local agents? As long as anyone they claim to be an American spy (and see how liberally they use that term in the NWFP of Pakistan) we're not safe from attack?

And free ALL muslims from US prisons. Whatever they are in for, presumably. Applies to NOI, or only 'orthodox' Sunni muslims?

Im more interested in everyones reaction to the fact that demands now go well beyond the withdrawl of military forces from the muslim world and the end of support for Israel.

I'm really not sure what to make of it - seriously, it reminds on that scene in Life of Brian where they demanded to end the Roman Empire in 30 days (IIRC)

I mean if we assume that they are not all totally insane then they'll know that those demands are pretty much nonsense (in various ways).

Maybe it's some strange way of assuring themselves (or at least the followers) that they're right, and that those rejecting the demands are responsible for everything (but then again, that part was in Life of Brian too ).

But maybe they're just loonies who really think demanding such stuff does anything.
