New Victim Added to 9/11 Death Toll, and Sadly, More to Follow

NEW YORK --A woman who died of lung disease five months after Sept. 11 was added Wednesday to the medical examiner's list of attack victims, marking the first time the city has officially linked a death to the toxic dust caused by the World Trade Center's collapse.

The local authorities did try to down play the asbestos and crush silica hazard. After all the whole city was covered in the stuff so if everyone was afraid to go outside then the city would have shut down worse then it already was.

Please note that wasn't the national or state officials who downplayed the air hazard. It was Rudy. In the end though I don't think he could have done anything else.

7 world trade center had it's first 18 floors heavily damaged by material from the other WTC towers which hit it with the force of a volcanic eruption. It was right across the street from the falling towers after all.
