          Usually, yes. Though you can opt to bottle it before the fermentation is entirely complete so that the yeast stay active long enough to carbonate the bottle. That's hard though so usually I put a little bit of priming sugar into the bottle before I put the bottle cap on it.

                Not that any of you bastards ever appreciated my VERY authentic scrump with rotting meat particles floating in it.

                Why MikeH even dumped a precess bottle.

                  I do think the scrumpy needed more time to mellow. It just had too much, er... "character"... but I do think the off tones would have mellowed with proper aging.

                  On a different note I have made hard apple cider in 1/4th the time which tasted better. I seems throwing in rotting hunks of meat does not improve the flavor of the brew. Who would have thought?
