When a bully uses a bigoted remark for the purposes of bullying, without sincerely believing in the bigotry, they can hardly complain when an onlooker thinks their bigotry is sincere.

The only bigotry I've seen in here is that by Winston.

My complaint is your posting style and one-trick-ponyism, the fact that it's about a religion means absolutely nothing.

      • Frankly, we all have annoying things like that. We all have things that are interesting to us and us alone, and they come out in our speech. A self-aware individual is aware of these things, and tries to moderate them somewhat; but frankly, what are any of us doing here other than chatting about things that interest us? The hope is that we are in a community that shares some things in common with us such that a) we're not that annoying to others and b) others aren't annoying to us

Realizing this and allowing others their differences - and, as posted before, simply skimming over the parts that are boring to us - is part of being a mature adult. It isn't something I do particularly well, although I am working on it.

Not jumping on you, Asher, for posting "Microsoft Rules" every time someone talks about a non-MS product is something I need to work on quite a bit ... but it's basically the same thing as LOTM posting about the jews. You like the Xbox360, and thus you talk about it often (in gaming or console threads) ; I am uninterested in the Xbox 360 and thus often uninterested in your posts, to the point of being annoyed at their frequency.

Learning to ignore others' annoying habits is part of growing up If I yelled at my GF for all of her annoying habits, and she at me, we'd have killed each other ten times over in the past years...

my style is usually matter of fact and informative, sometimes silly, and sometimes "bitterly sarcastic" none of which are out of the norm here.

Most of my posts are not on Jewish topics, and many of those which are, are in response to specific questions from people, including you.

There's no way this is the same thing.

I talk about Xbox 360 in threads related to console gaming. Duh.

If I started talking about the Xbox 360 in the Virginia Tech shooting thread, that'd be quite another. Or if I constantly made terrible jokes starting with "An Xbox 360, power cord, and lava lamp walk into a bar..." or impart some Robbie Bach wisdom on a thread about diplomatic isolationism, you'd have a point.

Some moderator action is badly needed here, especially a while back, on page 2. I couldn't believe my eyes when I read some of the things posted there.

Shame on you ill-concealed racists for behaving in this way.

Now shut the Hell up and leave the guy alone!
It is unbelievable to witness a single poster, who's been away for months, to waltz in here, pretending to know what's going on, and call people racists. There's only one poster bullying LOTM, and while most of us probably disagree with him, nobody (except you) thinks he's being racist.

Yes, I am, but LotM doesn't subscribe to it. He takes the angle of the United States Government, which is at odds with the position of (the former) Kosovan Jews.

that requires a certain measure of good will on each side. I think i mentioned this to Davout in the ask LOTM thread. When theres someone who is fundamentally insincere, who is playing just to provoke, and will twist anything without limit, rational discussion can only lead a healthy person to indignation. At some point failure to be indignant is submission, and is both pointless and unhealthy.

The point isn't that his opinions are always in-line with "Jewish people", but that the only stuff he talks about are issues related to Jewish people.

                            • Asher, you're piling onto him because he posts on Jewish subjects, relays anecdotes, chipping in with experiences from his own daily life. In general, because he posts on various topics from an openly Jewish perspective.

If that's not pestering him because he's Jewish, I don't know what is. You want him to either stop being who he is when posting on Poly, or shut up entirely.

Now stop digging an even deeper hole for yourself on this matter. And work on some remedy for that supremely bigotted aspect of your personality while you're at it.
