  • What would you do in your spare time if you had no computer?

I remember back in the early 80's I had none. Though I was a kid, so I played. I'm not sure how acceptible for someone my age to play kickball in the street. I miss that game though.

Not sure what I'd do. Probably just become an alcoholic.

What I Did before I spent all my time on my computer:

(well, I always spent some time on the computer, but when we had one computer to the whole hosue, my time was very limited)
          1. Read books... did this a lot.
          2. watched TV... would rather do almost anything on the computer tbh
          3. Play games/legos/etc
          4. play stuff like basketball/go for hikes
          5. artistic stuff

Really, the computer takes a lot of my time. And I no longer watch TV. And I spend a lot less time doing evreything else on my list. But my interests are similar.

I just looked it up. There's such a thing called adult kickball! A dream made in heaven. Seems kind of pathetic though. Not sure if I want my life to delve down that far. It's already taken a pretty steep dive. It was a great game as a kid for weenies like me who didn't like tackle football (though I loved flag football- I bet they have adult flag football too )

              Football
Was great when everybody was young and we could get 10-15 people out into the street or across the field every night to play. Nowadays everyone is fat, lazy or busy ...
Learn to overcome the crass demands of flesh and bone, for they warp the matrix through which we perceive the world. Extend your awareness outward, beyond the self of body, to embrace the self of group and the self of humanity. The goals of the group and the greater race are transcendant, and to embrace them is to acheive enlightenment.

Times when I haven't had a computer; when I've been backpacking or living away from home; reading becomes my number one entertainment.

                  Reading magazines substitutes the internet.

Day dreaming also becomes surprisingly entertaining. I spent about two weeks in Amsterdam basically day dreaming...

My routine involved being woken up at about 10am for breakfast. Then all the hostel residents were kicked out for few hours. I would go to the nearest coffee house, get stoned, and then wander around the city. Most days I went to see the film The Fifth Element which was playing at that time. I would also visit the zoo. Before returning to the hostel I would have another smoke of pot, then I would just lie on my bed until the evening - just day dreaming about various things. (A lot of people did this. The large dorm room always had people just lying on their bed doing nothing. No chatting - chatting and chess playing was done outside). Eventually hunger would inspire me to brave the oppressive streets of the Red Light District once again to go out and buy some fries with mayonnaise. Then a final smoke and I would return to my bed for further day dreaming and sleeping. It was quite a pleasant, dreamlike time, except for the horrible streets which seemed to ooze with a menacing, evil atmosphere.

Interaction with human beings is highly overrated.
I'm not buying BtS until Firaxis impliments the "contiguous cultural border negates colony tax" concept.

Speaking for myself, hanging out with people is boring. You have to endure boring conversations because of social niceties. Plus as an introvert, personal interactions produce a draining cost. Talking with people is just too much hard work.

But what I'd really do, if I didn't have a computer? I'd go and buy one.
