    Ode to the flip flop.

    Purchased in December 2000 from a Rite Aid for $1.99
    These Chinese made strapped footware have served me well
    But low they are now falling apart with their synthetic spray on soles coming undone.
    I have loved you through the years as you have loved me
    But soon we shall be parted.

                  There is an emotional attachment. I bought them in colllege so throwing them away symbolizes that I am at least the life time of footware away from drinking and womanizing on Del Playa.

                      Not my work. We get cost plus contracts from the government. Just last week I was "talked to" for working to fast. It seems they want me to take my time and run up the costs a bit since their profits are determined by cost + 20% so they want me to work slower and run up the costs. Sometimes it is good to be a government contractor. I made sure to "work from home" twice in the lat week where I didn't actually do any work.

                              I hate flip flops. But not as much as I hate the fact that Americans think it's okay to wear flip flops pretty much everywhere. Just like sweatpants. We've become a nation of ill-dressed pigs, and I'm just glad my always-sartorial-correct dad didn't live to see it.
