I'm not saying they should have stopped after the first one, I just failed to be entertained after the first movie. The others felt like they got bogged down in talking. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't anything like Death Proof though. I think part of it is also that I've always disliked the Fantasy genre.

"got bogged down in talking" :hehe: I presume you haven't read the book.

You probably don't like classic Film Noir then, where hard-boiled dialogue in moodily-lit sets IS the action.

No, I haven't read the book. I read 8 or so chapters of the Hobbit and couln't really stand it. I actually do enjoy noir a lot, but the differences in dialogue between LOTR and noir is vast.

The version of Romeo & Juliet with Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes.

They managed to turn a great play into crap, and got praised for it.

I mean there were scenes in there that were using EXACTLY the same sort of "this-is-so-cheesy-it's-funny-don't-you-see?" tecnique that a series of unbelievably unfunny bubble gum adds in Finland was using at the time.

Re: R & J: Parts of that were good, parts of it were interesting, but by and large yes that was a gooey heap of butt puke.

Spiderman was ok. Spidey II was ok. Neither was particularly good.

And Imran, you're smoking crack about Shawshank. Great movie

                Hmm... overrated. Overrated by whom?

bpb - suffice it to say that the films did a pretty good job of being true in spirit to the book, and where they didn't it wasn't an issue of taking too long - it was the other way 'round at times. The book is massive.

I never heard the reviews but am surprised if good things were said. I can endure most movies but only lasted through 30 minutes (at most) of this crap.

                        QFT.

Bkeela on the first page was complaining of the crap Hollywood has produced over the past ten years. He then went on to list a slew of comic book movies.

I think we've found his problem.

edit - Bkeela's post was #14 (for the nitpicky crowd )

Yeah, and I rented it years ago expecting something really good after reading favourable reviews - I WANTED to like the movie. It took all my patience to suffer through it.

I mean look at the result at rottentomatoes.com for the movie : http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/will...eo_and_juliet/

74% of reviews by movie critics were favourable.
