  • Man with no arms and one legs outruns cops.

Police in Florida were left embarrassed when a driver with no arms and just one leg managed to out manoeuvre them in a high-speed car chase.

Michael Wiley is well known by local police and was spotted in a car acting suspiciously when officers approached him, reports the St Petersburg Times.

The 40-year-old amputee took off as soon as he saw the police and a chase ensued, with extra patrol cars being called in for backup.

Wiley managed to lose the police and, although you would expect there to be a certain amount of embarrassment on the officers' part, there was none as Wiley is renowned for his driving prowess.

He has so many driving convictions that it is actually illegal for him to even drive a car and he has previously led police on chases reaching 120mph.

Previously, Wiley has been charged with stealing vehicles, attacking his wife, kicking a policeman and he is awaiting trial on drugs charges.

Although he has no arms Wiley has trained himself to drive to an exceptional level and he can even use a gear stick.

"He is one of the best drivers I've ever seen in my life," revealed Lee Michie, who has known Wiley for some time. "But he's the worst person I've ever met."

Why isn't he in jail as a habitual?

That's what I'm thinking, but I suspect you'd have a hard time finding a Judge to pass a sentence of "Amputation of last limb".

I would pay good money to see a one-legged man kick a policeman.

Because it's a story. Not news.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

What? Did you expect him to hit the cop instead?
