The parents aren't forced to. There are legal routes to give up custody so that the kid becomes a ward of the state.

I've had adult female patients only a bit less mentally incapctiated than her, ones with behavioral development levels between 18 and 24 moths of age, barely able to put two words together to form a phrase, unable to be toilet trained, who conceived and bore children. Placed in an institution the state in its wisdom decided that they should be housed co-ed and that staff would not interfere in their efforts to copulate. I can't imagine what it was like for them to carry and deliver their babies. I can't imagine what it was like to care for them during labor and delivery.

I thought this would be another circumcision thread.

Nah.. House usually has to have a decent reason for doing the crazy crap he does. Making the kid easier to care for wouldn't be on the list.

What exactly has the poor girl lost by having this procedure.

Nothing at all, in fact she is more likley to be cared for longer by the people who love her the most.

The correct answer is House would find the real diagnosis for the developmental disorder and cure her. Or Foreman accidentally kills her while the other two have sex.

Given that we can't talk to her, and that she'll never experience life with her ovaries and without hormone injections, one realy can not know.

If kids were more like pets they would be a lot easier to take care of.

You mean, given that she can't talk to us, walk, regulate her excretory functions, or even have any awareness of what an ovary is, let alone does, other than the limbic system effects of hormone secretions, one really can't identify any harm done by the procedure...
