  • Stupid Windows Help

Windows keeps trying to shut itself off to complete some update. I am running something on it (Well, on Cygwin) and don't want it to turn off...

Also, I want to go to sleep, so don't want to press the "Restart Later" option every 30 minutes.

How do I turn this off?

I am currently playing Guess the process.

Usually when one of my windows tries to shut itself, I put some kind of blocker device between the window and the frame.

If you use WinXP there's a way to do it, I don't remember exactly how, but usually googling something like WinXP annoying update restart should give you some results about how to take care of the problem

Delete your hard drive, that should stop it
Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.

I usually just drag the window asking to reboot out of view and ignore it.

In XP it automatically reboots if you don't do anything.

If it's the one that pops up after automatically installing a critical update, it does.

Never happened to me, even for critical updates. Maybe if you don't do anything for many hours, but I typically reboot once every 2-3 days anyway.
