  • Aliens (the movies)

A local tv channel has send all four Aliens the last couple of days and I really can't figure out wich one is the best.

no 1 is a typical "monster in the backyard" - second is a gung ho marine "if it moves - shoot" ; third is some kind of philosophical and the last pretty surrelaistic.

Wich one is your favorite ?

    BC,

I first saw Aliens about 1985, when Lance Henriksen looked into the pod, it scared the freaking chips ahoy outta me

    Loved them all

Was it II that had the Marines?

They got , IIRC, didnt they find a partial living body all caught up on the wall?

Still gives me creeps, even though only a movie

Resurrection was awful. Haven't seen Aliens 3.

Aliens was good entertainment. Alien was a good book.

I remember watching it the first go around, mind you, back then I did dippers, umm, if ya know what it is fine if not it is chips and dip

I was soooo..intently staring then BAM the frigging alien thing wrapped his face up and I was whoooa Dude, what is THAT!

Of course, if I was not in the intense state, it may have been different

Yep, it was no II that had the marines and the little girl that was way smarter on survival (she though was killed in the start of no 3 )

Tough ask... Both I and II defined the format of those movies for ages afterwards. It comes done to personal quibbles, and in that case it's II for me by a nose. I still remember watching I for the first time as an 11 year old alone in my aunt's house after midnight on TV in the pitch dark with no-one else awake. That was the greatest introduction possible to that movie, and I remember just how petrified I was for the next few nights.

I appreciate 3 after watching all the making-of features on the DVD set - there were a LOT of problems in production with that movie, and David Fincher did amazingly well with it considering it was his first movie direction job. Resurrection was very French (well, it reminded me of Luc Besson's writing of The Fifth Element), and for that had some great comedic/gory moments, but didn't fit so well with the series of movies.

Back to the ROOTS of addiction. My first missed poll!

Quite agree - have seen them several times and never been bored.

Alien or Aliens, but they're both different films. Alien was more tense, Aliens was more entertaining.

Since Aliens could hardly repeat Alien for the same tension, I think it still did a good job plus it was more entertaining, so it gets my vote.

3 is weird compared to the previous two and felt somewhat tired already, and Resurrection is just ****.

                  Alien was my favorite...
The series SLOWLY went downhill after it...
but such is usually the case with sequels...
                  Alien was a MAN'S movie...
                  Aliens was a KID'S movie...
The rest were independent films IMHO...

Alien is on Cinemax right now.

But, I watched the end of Jarhead, and still haven't seen Alien.

                    ACK!

Aliens is my favourite. It took what was a reasonable horror film and elevated it to an entirely new level. One of the few sequels in film history that improved upon the original.

                      Alien 3 was absolute ****e.

Resurrection was watchable but very inferior to the first two.

"Alien" pwns all for scary movies, "Aliens" was ok, "Aliens 3" tried to imitate a little of both of its predecessors but just didn't do it for me, "Aliens: Resurrection" was just weird and I liked the least of the four. "Alien vs. Predator" was on a few hours ago. Bleh, it was a tacky market sellout that had no business being made.
