I suppose that even very sophisticated use of interferometry could do little to scale down the vast amount of infrastructure required for such a project.

      • He didn't claim that Kuci.

        • Only a fool would think technology would be what determines when such a thing happens.

See Kuci, most other people understood that that sentence was part of a single post. I see you failed to include the rest of the post. Its sort of sad to see that an empty line is all that is needed to destroy your ability to comprehend what was written.

I suggest you read posts in their entirety. There is this thing called context. You might want to check into it. Cause it makes you look like a fool and and an ass.

            • "Not determine it" is not the same as "not play any role in it whatsoever".

              • It can be, actually. And it's a tremendous contributing influence, as evidenced by the fact that just after that he cited the cost as a reason not to.

Don't argue with him about it. He is wrong, everyone else knows he is being stupid. Just enjoy it.

Surely a lower technical hurdle than say, ramming space dust at 10% c.

                    • I don't think that technique can be expanded to getting decent-resolution visual photographs of an approximately Earth-sized object.

true but I wonder if this is a larger technical hurdle than trying to expand current space technology to a successful interstellar probe.

                        • I'm not sure it's actually possible. KH could say for sure

                          • Of course it can be photographed, the next generation of optical telescopes are being built to do just this and 20 LY distant will be a piece of cake to see once their operating.

                                Nulling interferometry.

Though I have no idea if it would work as much as it has been advertised to be able to.
